I like it and it definitely made me more interested in the new album... but I think it could've been a bit better. It sounds like it wants to crescendo, but doesn't.

Great song- very happy with it. I agree, though, that for most of the second half of it, I was thinking, 'Oh, so it's just going to keep going like this- I thought it might go somewhere else.'

Hope the album isn't on this generic tip and hope Neil reps some singing properly

Yeah- surely a wee string of British dates in the build up to their festival date in London or whatever it is comes next!

any thoughts on the new album? I like it overall, but I'm bothered by how the vocals are mixed on a few tracks. Rachel is consistently mixed too low and a couple tracks like Slomo sound like the vocals are stumbling over each other.

I also saw them live the other night. Very good except for the sound problems during their encore.

The vocals are the least 'slowdivey' bit of the new album.

Honestly, the vocals on the older work is what really stood out for me, in terms of harmony and recording technique. The rest of their sound (is the chorus delay aspects) are what everyone bangs on about, but for me the vocals were always the best bit of slowdive.

I like the new album but it's not in rotation.

Incidentally, the media reaction to the album is over the top and full of lazy hyperbole imo.

yeah the more positive reviews are a bit over the top. At the same time, some of the really negative reviews are pretty weird too. It's certainly not without its faults, but I'm really not sure what some were expecting.

Who gave them a bad review? I'd like to read this out of interest - or sick fascination...

Fantano seems to be the most notable, but mostly just various users on various forums here and there.

I kinda agree with him even though I enjoy the album. At times it's too easy going and clean sounding.
