hm, youtube seems to indicate that Neil has been playing Alison and 40 days for a few years now...

but yeah, a studio recording would be pretty interesting...

and expect a lot of pissed off shoegazers if it’s merely a box set.

eh, I'd be much happier with a boxset containing fully mastered versions of their unreleased material.

Word is that its happening. Playing a handful of festivals from what i hear. That explains what McGee meant when he said large venues I suspect

I don't know what to think about this countdown.
A new record would be interesting, but I still think it would be strange for them to record new stuff.
I wouldn't care that much about them touring, as I wouldn't even be able to see them.

I would be very surprised if it's a new album as some of their other tweets seem to indicate touring activity. Possibly both, but I'm betting it's just touring. I'm interested... but not really that excited.

I'd rather see a tour than an album since their last was their weakest imo

true. I like Pygmalion, but it's really not that good of an album or a hidden masterpiece like some make it out to be (I'd place a few of the demo tracks ahead of some of the tracks that did make the cut). I also think Slowdive (moreso than MBV did) runs the risk of being "yet another band that sounds like Slowdive" if they released a new album. I think Slowdive's sound was relatively easy to replicate and have their template built off of.  They may not be quite the same, but it also doesn't help that I wasn't at all impressed with Black Hearted Brother or Neil's track on the new Alcest. Even then, while it may be too early to tell, I would be more interested in live dates if more recorded material was an option*; I'd hate for them to be in a Pixies-like situation.

*I realise this makes me a completely hypocrite for being much more excited for Loop's tour, but Loop was a much more consistent band and not one whose sound was endlessly trod upon by other bands in the interim. Even though Robert will hem and haw over not looking backwards, I still hold out hope that he'd do one more Loop album.
