doesn't help that they've covered the worse MBV song from the Creation period.

That is an absurd claim!   No more sorry is excellent!

Wasn't aware many covers existed.    The black metal track in the firs post isn't bad for what it is.
The drowning girl's fingers
Search for the entrance stone, and more.
Lifting the hem of her azure dress,
She gazes---
at Kafka on the shore.

That's a pretty nice cover.

Then I checked out some other songs by them and...  they really do love Lazy-era MBV!! :cheesy:

sorry if anyone from here contributed

Come In Alone is rather good outside of the handclaps; as is the first version of Loomer. Only Shallow is fairly dire, though.

edit: forgot to add: "Touched" is mindblowing.

Why do people only do loveless album covers? What I'd really love to hear is a well produced my bloody valentine* tribute album by some quality bands. (*Creation era onwards only, of course).

Along the lines of the excellent Sonic Cathedral produced 13th Floor Elevators tribute album last year.

I think that would make for a more interesting experience, though I'm not sure the quality will differ much. Though I do think covering songs from YMMR/FMWYK/Isn't Anything-era would probably be a bit easier to not only make it ones own, but also not fall flat on ones face while doing so.

I'm kind of surprised more bands don't tackle the earlier material for this reason, honestly.  I know if I were in a band I wouldn't think twice about covering something like "Never Say Goodbye" or "Lovelee Sweet Darlene" over "To Here Knows When".

Don't know if this has already been mentioned but I just discovered it and it's fucking horrible.

The whole album covered in a style that sums up everything I hate about indie rock today. The subtitle alone is enough to make me...

Eww... I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit.

I was thinking Mumford & Sons, although I don't think I've actually heard them.

Re the subtitle... This is something I've been meaning to mention for a while: I hate the crybaby/emo interpretation of Loveless and MBV in general. I've always found MBV to be a really mean and sexy band, not an sad, emotional one. In fact, there's often a pointed emotional coldness to the songs ("Emptiness Inside", for heaven's sake!) I particularly dislike it when wet blanket teenagers quote MBV lyrics out of context on Tumblr.

No offence to anyone on this forum who sees things differently. You are all wonderful people.

But this Kenny Feinstein fellow needs to stop.

I got maybe two lines into the song before I had to turn it off.
